What is plantar fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition caused by overuse and repetitive stress, leading to micro-tears in a thick fibrous band of tissue known as the plantar fascia. The tissue’s injury causes inflammation experienced as heel and arch pain and is often at its worst upon rising in the morning or after resting for a duration during the day.

Treatment options for plantar fasciitis

Common treatment strategies include rest, ice, pain relievers (medications), and targeted exercises, yet K-Laser (LLLT) offers a different approach that enhances the body’s natural healing capability.

Since the foot is often used and seldom has a chance to rest, any initial attempt to heal fails and then exacerbates when used again.

K-Laser (LLLT) enhances and accelerates the body’s healing potential and, combined with targeted exercises and stretches, facilitates a more optimal outcome towards recovery and a return to normal function.

How long does it take to heal?

Plantar fasciitis heals within a broad timeframe, and various sources suggest anything from several weeks to 18 months… However, K-Laser (LLLT) has been shown to reduce expected healing timeframes to much less duration.

People’s activities and their age are variable factors in predicting a clinical outcome, but I have an incidence in my clinic whereby a sufferer, a gentleman in his 50s who had suffered for just over one year, had a full recovery in just 6 sessions (3 weeks).

Is walking good for plantar fasciitis?

With walking, the pain usually eases after a few minutes as the blood supply nourishes the tissues and carries away biochemical inflammatory markers (prostaglandins). Walking can therefore temporarily ease the pain, but unfortunately, the pain usually returns after stopping and resting for a period as the inflammation returns.

What not to do with plantar fasciitis?

It is best not to stand for prolonged periods or to continue high-impact exercise like running and jumping. Consider cycling or swimming instead.

Do involve regular stretching of the Achilles tendon and calf muscles, and try not to wear shoes that may worsen the inflammation, like high heels, flip flops, and some flat shoes.

Why does K-Laser (LLLT) work?

K-Laser treatment’s primary aims are to,

  • Reduce Pain
  • Improve oxygenated blood flow to areas
  • Drive cellular production of ATP to hasten repair and recovery
  • Help the body to process and reduce inflammation
  • Reduce the formation of scar tissue

I invite you to book a consultation to discover how K-Laser (LLLT) can help alleviate your pain, enabling you to return to a more comfortable life.
