My topic this month is getting the word out there about how my treatments work and how combining them can be even more effective! Combining osteopathy, K-Laser, and acupuncture within one appointment, all in a 40 minute session, does often lead to a speedier recovery for some of my clients. Could this work for you? How long will I take to recover?
We all know when things go wrong, we cannot always prepare or avoid that… Our day to day lives throw up various challenges and we never really know when we are going to ‘pull as muscle’ or ‘trap a nerve’.
I’m often asked by patients how long they will they take to repair after injury? This can be difficult to predict due to factors like aging, re-injury, climate, and genetics, but I’ve looked into the various phases for tissue repair and listed them below.
Generally, we can expect up to a few months for the full repair of most tissue types but help is at hand
Tissue repair phases
Hemostasis occurs Immediately after injury
- Blood vessels constrict → platelet plug forms → coagulation → clot formation.
- The clot acts as a temporary matrix and stops bleeding.
Inflammation occurs for 0–3 days
- Neutrophils and macrophages arrives and remove debris and pathogens.
- Cytokines and growth factors are released to signal repair.

Proliferation occurs for 3–10 days
- Fibroblasts produce collagen and extracellular matrix.
- Angiogenesis occurs (formation of new blood vessels).
- Granulation tissue forms (red, bumpy tissue).
Remodelling / Maturation occurs over weeks to months
- Collagen fibres reorganise and strengthen.
- Excess cells and vessels regress.
- Scar tissue forms.

Can combining K-Laser, acupuncture and osteopathy accelerates progress!
So why would that be? Well, let’s take a quick look at how each therapy works.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathic treatment is a hands-on approach used by osteopaths to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Osteopaths understand that structure and function are interrelated – problems in the body’s structure can affect how it functions.
Rational treatment is based on these principles and osteopaths treat the whole person, not just symptoms. Osteopathic treatment aims to support the body’s self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms.

As an osteopath, I focus on the relationship between the body’s structure and its function, understanding that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself when functioning optimally. I work on muscles, fascia, bones, lymphatic drainage, bones, and global skeletal alignment to achieve this.

What is K-Laser?
K-Laser treatment is a medical treatment that using specific wavelengths of light to stimulate healing in tissues, reduce pain, and decrease inflammation. Clinicians can ensure that their laser patients will recover in less time from injury because of the following effects.

- Increased metabolic activity
- Improved vascular activity
- Anti Inflammatory
- Improved nerve function
- Pain relief
- Accelerated tissue repair and cell growth
- Reduced scar tissue formation.
- Wounds treated with the K-Laser are more resilient to secondary infections.
- Wounds treated with K-Laser are proven to heal faster and with increased tensile strength.
Using the K-Laser, a safe and non-invasive treatment technique, clinicians can also help patients with more chronic pain conditions.
Medical Acupuncture
Medical acupuncture is a clinically recognised and relevant medical intervention. Medical acupuncture’s intention is to promote local healing responses at the needle site on a patient’s body. This is usually where the patient feels their symptoms are.
- Micro trauma and inflammation: Needle insertion creates a mild, controlled tissue injury that triggers release of adenosine, histamine, substance P, and CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide).
- Increased blood flow: Local vasodilation improves tissue oxygenation and nutrient delivery, promoting healing.
- Release of growth factors: Small-scale tissue disruption can stimulate fibroblast activity and collagen remodelling, aiding tissue repair.
- Immune modulation: Local activation of mast cells and macrophages enhances the release of cytokines and neuropeptides.

Osteopathic, K-Laser, Acupuncture Treatment Combinations
So when I meet patients and we firefight their injuries to get the best healing responses, I often choose to combine therapies to make it the most effective treatment. By using this triad treatment strategy, conditions often resolve much sooner than patients ever thought possible. Don’t just check out the science, also see my patient reviews and testimonials and book an appointment today.
Of course, I do so in patient partnership with discussions and an understanding of each patient’s needs and expectations. Patients will never receive a treatment that they don’t understand or want.
